Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about cycling the Great Western Greenway and our guided experiences for active seniors
Yes, it's genuinely flat—the entire 42km route follows an old railway line with virtually no hills. We see cyclists return to cycling after 20+ years on the Greenway. It's perfect for building confidence at your own pace.
We provide quality hybrid bikes as part of our guided tour packages, so you don't need to own or transport one. All bikes are regularly serviced and fitted to suit your height and comfort needs.
Half-day tours are 3-4 hours (12-15km), full-day tours run 5-6 hours (20-25km), and we take regular stops at local pubs, heritage sites, and scenic viewpoints. We ride at a conversational pace—you should be able to chat while cycling. No one gets left behind.
Please get in touch before booking. We work with individuals managing arthritis, balance issues, and other concerns to find solutions—whether that's a different bike setup, a shorter route, or modified pacing. We've adapted tours for all sorts of situations.
We only cancel for severe weather (heavy rain with high winds or icy conditions). Light rain is part of Irish cycling! We'll reschedule at no cost if you're not comfortable, or you can join us another day. Always bring a light rain jacket.
Yes, we run 3-5 day cycling journeys with accommodation at comfortable, locally-owned guesthouses. These combine daily rides (15-20km) with evening social time and trips to local restaurants. Perfect for meeting other active cyclists and exploring beyond just the Greenway.
